Botswana DFI outlook downgraded

Botswana Development Corporation’s (BDC) outlook has been revised from stable to negative by Moody’s, following the revision of the country’s rating.

The Botswana-based development finance institution (DFI) has been dropped following the revision of the country’s outlook to negative from stable, on deteriorating fiscal metrics.

However, Moody’s has affirmed BDC’s long-term and short-term local currency and foreign currency issuer ratings at Baa2/Prime-2.  This is on the expectation that the company’s financial metrics are strong enough to withstand the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.
